Dr. Maurizio Sessa is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen with expertise in pharmacovigilance, pharmacoepidemiology, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in drug safety. He earned his PhD in Translational Medicine from the University of Campania "L. Vanvitelli" in 2017, following a Master’s in Pharmacy from the Second University of Naples in 2014.

His research focuses on integrating AI and registry data in drug safety and effectiveness studies, with collaborations across clinical fields, particularly infectious diseases. Dr. Sessa has been awarded several prestigious research grants, including a Principal Investigator role in a large-scale project on Pharmaceutical Data Science Education funded 6 million euro by Novo Nordisk, Leo Pharma, and Lundbeck. He has also contributed to projects focusing on real-time regulatory analytics and pharmacoepidemiology in the context of COVID-19.

Dr. Sessa has published over 90 peer-reviewed articles, with significant contributions as a primary or last author in 47 of these publications. His work has been featured in top-tier journals, including the BMJ, and he has received over 1,100 citations, with an H-index of 20.
