Patrick Blin
Acting Director
Patrick Blin,MD, MSc, is a Physician specialized in Public Health, Pharmacoepidemiology and Biostatistics, working for more than 30 years as Scientific Director and Consultant in Epidemiology and Pharmacoepidemiology, conducting either field or database-based studies. He has extensive experience with data from the French nationwide claims database (SNDS) and has published more than 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is the Vice-President of the CESREES, the Committee in charge, before the authorisation of the CNIL, to provide scientific and ethical opinions on study projects requiring the use of personal health data, including those of the SNDS.

Hillary Bonnet
Medico-Scientific Assistant
Hillary Bonnet, Hillary Bonnet, PharmD, MSc, is a pharmacist (USA) specialized in epidemiology and comparative effectiveness research (CER). After working three years at the US Air Force Academy as a clinical pharmacist and pharmacist in charge, she completed her Master’s degree in public health and CER in Paris and in Bordeaux in 2020. Over the last three years, she has worked as an epidemiologist in the METHODS team at Cochrane France and has been working at BPE since 2024 as a medico-scientific assistant. She has experience in conducting database studies (SNDS), systematic reviews, meta-analyses and assessing biases in non-randomized studies. She supports the scientific team in the conception and implementation of real-life pharmaco-epidemiology studies.
Laure Carcaillon-Bentata
Head of Scientific Research
Laure Carcaillon-Bentata, PhD, is an Epidemiologist, specialized in Public Health. For more than 15 years, she has conducted and coordinated numerous studies in the field of aging: etiological studies, production of public health indicators. She has extensive experience with French medico-administrative databases (SNDS): evaluation, algorithm development, matching, cohort studies. Recently, she participated at the national and European level in the evaluation of the impact of the Covid-19 health crisis on population health. She has published more than 65 articles and 10 reports and book chapters in peer reviewed journals.

Nicolas Thurin, PharmD, PhD, is a Pharmacist specialized in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology. He has experience on data standardization, common data model implementation, and federated analyses execution in the Système National des Données de Santé (SNDS). He collaborates in real-world investigations, including drug utilization studies, comparative effectiveness research, and validation studies, in national and international projects.

Nicholas Moore
Founder & Emeritus President
Nicholas Moore MD, PhD, FISPE, FRCP (Edin.), is the Founding President of BPE. He is Emeritus Professor of Medical Pharmacology (PU-PH) at the University of Bordeaux and Bordeaux Teaching Hospital. He has been a member of the ENCePP Steering Committee, President of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP), Vice-President of the European Association of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT) and also a member of the Board of Governors of the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE). He has a particular interest in the use of low-dose nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), the assessment of their effectiveness and safety.
Aurélie Balestra, MSc in Cellular Engineering and Therapeutic Strategies, has been working at BPE since 2007. She coordinates research projects from conception to dissemination of results, with a solid experience in field studies in oncology, gastroenterology, pneumology and thermal spa therapy and more recently, on database studies in cardiology and oncology. She also participates in project promotion, ensures the organisation of the Bordeaux PharmacoEpi Festival (the platforms's annual congress) and implents the platform commmuniation stategy as Community Manager.
Emmanuelle Bignon, MSc in Applied Molecular Cytology, participates in research projects from design to dissemination of results at BPE since 2009. She has acquired a strong experience in field studies in oncology, gastro-enterology, hematology, allergology, rheumatology, dermatology, neurology, cardiology and more recently, on database studies in gastro-enterology. She is involved in the archiving process of BPE studies.
Caroline Dureau-Pournin

Caroline Dureau-Pournin, MSc in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance, has been working for over 20 years at BPE. She coordinates field and database studies, in particular using the SNDS data, from conception until results publication. She also supports project teams in the regulatory process for study implementation and the BPE director to set-up collaboration agreements with partners.
Séverine Lignot-Maleyran, MSc in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance, has been working at BPE with 20 years of experience. She coordinates national and European field and database studies, including ones relying on the French National Healthcare Insurance System (SNDS). She is also the quality referent in charge of developing and implementing the Quality Management System to follow and maintain the ISO 9001: 2015 certification of BPE.

Abdelilah Abouelfath, MSc in Public Health, has over 20 years of experience at BPE Platform and has an experience of field studies and database-based studies using the French National Healthcare Insurance System (SNDS). He has published more than 35 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Marie-Agnès Bernard

Marie-Agnès Bernard, MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, has over 18 years of experience at BPE Platform in analysing data from field studies and database-based studies using the French National Healthcare Insurance System (SNDS).
Jérémy Jové, MSc in Biostatistics, has 20 years of experience at BPE Platform and has an extensive experience of field studies and database-based studies using the French National Healthcare Insurance System (SNDS). He has participated in several projects and has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
Ludovic Liège, graduated with a Licence in Computer Science, joined the BPE Platform in 2002. He is in charge of the IT management and the development of databases. He is involved in supervision and management of database managers and developers team and in the management of the planning, design and quality of the IT applications developed within the BPE (medical data entry, study follow-up, quality control).

Dunia Sakr, MSc in Biostatistics supplemented with an MSc in Mathematical Statistical and Economic Engineering, has over 10 years of experience in biostatistics, first in a research team of INSERM then in a private French CRO and for 5 years at BPE. She is involved in field studies and database-based studies using the French National Healthcare Insurance System (SNDS).
Romain Sylvestre

Data Manager
Romain Sylvestre, graduated with a two-year University Degree in Technology with over 14 years of experience, first in Defence, then in embedded software development, and finally as an application designer, Developer and Data Manager for all BPE health studies since 2013.
Nathalie Vidal
Accountant
Nathalie Vidal is in charge of monitoring and controlling accounting operations with the different supervisory bodies, budget forecasts and consolidated balance sheets at BPE Platform since 2003. At the administrative level, she also manages the follow-up of contract signatures with partners and the pre-establishment of a personal contract. She supports the secretary in centralising orders.
