Hillary Bonnet, PharmD, MSc, is a U.S.-licensed pharmacist with specialized expertise in epidemiology and comparative effectiveness research (CER). She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and completed a pharmacy internship at Peking University Third Hospital in Beijing, China. She later pursued further education in France, where she obtained a Master’s degree (Master 1) in Public Health and a Master 2 in Comparative Effectiveness Research from the University of Paris Cité.
Early in her career, Hillary spent three years as a traditional and clinical pharmacist at the Air Force Academy in Colorado, USA. In this role, she not only served as the lead pharmacist but also provided direct clinical care, conducting medication reconciliations and making adjustments for chronic conditions. As the clinic’s hyperlipidemia champion, she ensured practitioners followed the latest guidelines, regularly presenting updated research and clinical studies. It was during this time that Hillary developed a strong passion for research, leading her to further pursue this field.
After completing her master’s studies in Public Health and CER in Paris, Hillary interned at BPE in Bordeaux, France. There, she focused on instrumental variable analysis to evaluate the safety and efficacy of direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) and low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWHs) following total hip and knee replacement surgeries. Her work was based on data from the French National Health Data System (Système National des Données de Santé).
For the next three years, Hillary worked as an epidemiologist with the METHODS team at Cochrane France. During this time, she received extensive training in systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and bias assessment in both randomized and non-randomized studies. Her contributions included delivering webinars, teaching courses for the Diplôme Universitaire, and playing a key role in the COVID-Network Meta-Analyses project (https://covid-nma.com/), supported by the World Health Organization and Cochrane.
Since January 2024, Hillary has rejoined BPE as a Medico-Scientific Assistant. In this role, she supports the scientific team in the design and implementation of methodologies for real-world pharmacoepidemiology studies.
