As Head of the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology - BIPS and Deputy Director of the institute, Prof. Dr. Ulrike Haug has extensive expertise in the field of pharmacoepidemiology and cancer prevention research. After receiving her degree in pharmacy from the University of Würzburg, Ulrike Haug earned her doctorate in epidemiology at Heidelberg University. She continued her research at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, was Assistant Research Professor at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, USA and habilitated at the University of Heidelberg in 2013. She has led numerous studies on drug utilization and safety as well as on cancer screening. She is a member of national and international committees in the field of cancer prevention and screening, e.g. of the National Decade Against Cancer and the World Endoscopy Organization. Ulrike Haug has already received numerous awards such as the Young Investigator Award of the German Society of Epidemiology, the Vision Zero Award, and the Felix Burda Award in the category Medical Prevention.
